DRIFT is a collection of sculptural pieces inspired by glaciers and natural earth formations from pivotal voyages to Patagonia and the Grand Canyon. In six pieces, Drift attempts to capture the simplicity and elegance that nature does so well. The forms and palette are inspired by the endless horizons. Mass, grace, boundlessness. The collection’s color palette references the land with hand-dyed sand, powdered glass, mirror, and cement. With Patagonia’s color palette and the Grand Canyon’s layers of earth and strata, the works incorporate elements that are meticulously labored and polished in direct contrast with surfaces that are less controlled. Cast sand mimics the glacial formations, the mirrors recall the calmness of the sea. The focal point, the sofa, pushed the studio’s boundaries and came together in a poetic mass of classic upholstery with sharp-edged casting techniques.
